We welcome and encourage the involvement of parents in many areas of the life of the school. We have a strong sense of community among our families. Classroom volunteers, field trips, hot lunch program, sports coaching and community events are some of the ways our parents are involved. We highly value our parent volunteers and the contributions they make toward the well-being of our school community. Parents can often be seen before and after school visiting with one another and developing friendships that go well beyond our school walls.
The teacher-student ratio for JK and SK is 1:12. Grades 1-3 have a class maximum of 24. Grades 4-8 have a class maximum of 26.
The School offers an optional service to teachers and students through an outside hot lunch provider, “The Lunch Lady.” Hot lunch is delivered daily from Tuesday to Friday. All meals are nut-free. The PTA organizes a program which provides an optional pizza lunch for the students each Monday. *Hot lunch program is currently on hold due to Covid 19 and increased health protocols.
Our school calendar follows the same holiday schedule as the Halton School Board for both Christmas and March Break. However, OCS adds a week to March Break either before or after the Halton Board’s week. Our Professional Development days are unique to Oakville Christian School and often fall the day before a holiday weekend.
